A number of area Police Departments have been honored for their safety efforts.
Pennsylvania State Police Troop G Hollidaysburg received the
Platinum Award, the highest honor awarded by AAA, for traffic safety work.
Hollidaysburg and Duncansville Police received a Gold Award, the second highest recognition given. While a Silver Award went to the Altoona Police Department.
The Logan Twp Police Department and the Penn State Altoona University Police were each awarded a Bronze Award.
The sponsor of the award, the Automobile Association of America, notes the program is designed to recognize departments that provide extra service to keep people from being injured in highway crashes.
Last year there were over 1,200 fatalities on Pennsylvania roadways.
I would've just posted this on Facebook, but Facebook doesn't allow you to post GIFs (like this little animation).
Maybe the $1.1 BILLION price tag isn't so crazy?
