AASD Superintendent Leaving At End of Upcoming School Year
The end of the upcoming school year will bring a big change to the Altoona Area School District.
On Monday night school board members accepted the retirement notice of Superintendent Dennis Murray who will be stepping sown after 28 years.
Advertising for his replacement will begin soon so that a new superintendent will be in place for the 2013-14.
Monday’s meeting was the last one for Assistant Superintendent Norm Miller.
In addition to losing Miller who has been hired by the Central Dauphin School District, the district is also losing Assistant High School Principal Ben Brenneman, who has been hired by East Stroudsburg Area School District.
The board hired Andrew Neely, an English teacher from the Hollidaysburg Area School District, to fill Brenneman's former position at a salary of $60,000.
