AMED Saved In ACT 47 Revision

The revised Recovery Plan for the City of Altoona has been completed it looks as though it may be something city leaders can live with.

One of the key changes in the ACT 47 plan is the removal of the Initiative to “Investigate the Feasibility and Financial Impact of Adding EMS Services” to the City’s Fire Department.

Mayor Bill Schirf, as well as many city residents, had made it very clear they didn’t want AMED to be a victim of the plan.

The revisions also include keeping the per capita and flat rate occupation taxes, and including paving projects police vehicle purchases in the capital plan.

Since filing the initial draft of the plan, meetings and discussions have been held with elected and appointed officials and community stakeholders. Written comments from officials and the public were taken into consideration as well as comments made during a formal public hearing held on November 28.

City Council will consider adopting the plan on December 19th.

The complete revised ACT 47 Plan can be viewed on the city’s website at http://www.altoonapa.gov/Pages/Home.aspx
