Former Altoona Area High School boys basketball coach John Swogger passed away at the age of 77 on Tuesday.
Swogger was head-coach of the Altoona Mountain Lions from 1968 to 1980. One of the players he helped develop was Johnny Moore who went on to become Altoona’s first NBA player.
Swogger was inducted into the Blair County Sports Hall of Fame in 2006.
