A rally is scheduled for this afternoon in Altoona focusing on “Jobs Not Cuts.”
Constituents, including community and faith leaders, seniors, students, and working families, are joining together to call on Senator Bob Casey and Representative Bill Shuster to pledge to only support a budget deal that ensures the rich pay their fair share in taxes and protects programs like Medicaid, Medicare and Social Security from any cuts that would devastate Pennsylvania’s children, seniors and working families.
As Republicans continue to oppose tax increases on top earners as part of the solution to the austerity crisis, voters will confront their members of Congress and call on them to reject cuts to programs that benefit the middle class and focus instead on creating jobs for Pennsylvanians and other Americans.
The rally is being held at 4 o’clock at the intersection of 17th Street and 6th Avenue.
