Arbitrators Settle Two Blair Union Contracts

Two groups of Blair County union workers officially have new contracts.

County leaders said Tuesday that an arbitrator has ruled on a new 3-year agreement for employees represented by the United Mine Workers of America. The group, which includes many court-related personnel and residual workers, will receive pay increases of between 1.7 and 2.5-percent through the end of 2015.

Commissioner Diane Meling called it a fair agreement.

Last week an arbitrator settled the county’s contract with its AFSCME employees. The prison workers will get pay raises ranging from 2 to 2.5-percent through 2015. In return, the county will be allowed to modify its call-off policy.
