Blair Healthcare Costs Increase

Blair County’s employee healthcare costs will increase nearly $400-thousand next year under a new agreement the commissioner’s reached with Highmark on Tuesday.

The $7.638-million expense represents a 7.41-percent price hike. Commissioner Diane Meling says the board was expecting a steeper increase. Meling says the county benefits from stiff competition in the healthcare market.

The county will also increase by $1,000 the amount it pays out of its health savings account towards employee deductibles.
