A Blair County man charged with causing a fatal DUI crash will spend the next two-to-four years behind bars.
John McAndrew entered a guilty plea Thursday morning in Blair County Court. Police say Phillip Bottenfield was riding a motorcycle when McAndrew pulled out in front of him at the intersection of Knob and Moyer Roads in Freedom Township.
McAndrew’s blood-alcohol content was more than twice the legal limit. Police say Bottenfield was wearing a helmet and was just 32-years-old when he was killed in the June 2012 crash.
Just prior to McAndrew’s sentencing hearing, Phillip Bottenfield’s family was informed that Phillip’s 41-year-old sister Lisa was hospitalized after crashing her motorcycle in Blair County. State Police believe she was driving under the influence and did not have a valid motorcycle license.
