Blair to Stick with Block Grant Funding for Human Services

The Blair County Commissioners say they are hoping to stick with the state’s new block grant funding system for their allocation of human services dollars.

Commissioner Diane Meling says the change has been temporarily delayed by the Corbett administration – who will now allow only 20 counties to enter the program. Meling explains why Blair County is applying to participate.

Meling says that in the past, funding that wasn’t utilized would need to be returned to the state. Under the new proposal, the money could be shifted to another program. Meling says the change would also allow counties to submit one report per year to the Department of Welfare.
