Bomb Threat at Courthouse Forces Evacuations In Hollidaysburg



No explosive device was found after two bomb threats targeting the Blair County Courthouse caused authorities to evacuate residents of a two-block area.
 
Technicians and a robot from Penn State's bomb squad were brought in late last night after the threats were sent to WTAJ-TV shortly before 7 p.m. warning of an explosive device set to detonate if an unspecified trial began.
 
The county's bomb-detection dog had made two sweeps of the courthouse and identified a possible suspicious item. Hollidaysburg Police Chief Jeffrey Ketner said early Thursday the dog sniffed out a substance in the chlorine family.
 
Evacuated residents living in the neighborhood of the courthouse were sent to the Phoenix Volunteer Fire Company to wait out the investigation
 
County officials say no significant trials were scheduled to start today.
