Childer’s Waives Preliminary Hearing in DUI Crash
A Bedford man reportedly high on drugs and alcohol when he caused a crash that killed a 5-year-old Maryland boy has waived his right to a preliminary hearing.
A court spokesperson says Childer’s was due to appear before a judge on Wednesday, but his attorney instead moved the case toward trial. Childer’s was arrested last Thursday and charged with several felonies in connection with the April 29th crash near the Bedford Interchange with the Pennsylvania Turnpike.
The accident killed Julyen Winters, who was thrown from the minivan. Winter’s mom, dad and brother were injured. Police say Childers blood-alcohol content was between .186 and .222 after the crash. Troopers also say he had morphine in his system – and was driving at 90 miles-per-hour. He faces a significant jail sentence if convicted.
I would've just posted this on Facebook, but Facebook doesn't allow you to post GIFs (like this little animation).
Maybe the $1.1 BILLION price tag isn't so crazy?
