Property reassessment and the possible sale of the Valley View Home and surrounding land were two topics addressed by Blair County Commissioners Thursday as they attended the Blair County Chamber of Commerce Breakfast Club.
Noting that reassessment, which hasn’t been done in Blair County since 1958 is getting harder to avoid, the commissioners still prefer to forestall the inevitable. It continues to get harder to raise taxes and get the permission to do so as the county finds itself in the situation of being just 2 mils from maximum taxation.
As far as the sale of Valley View Home and the land around it is concerned Commissioners Terry Tomassetti and Diane Meling continue to agree that it is the best course of action while Commissioner Ted Beam still is not in favor of the move.
Other items touched on by the commissioners on Thursday included Altoona’s Act 47 Recovery Plan, and municipal consolidation.
