The reason for the closure is that cracks have been discovered on the stretch of roadway from west of Portage to the Blair County Line.
Penn Dot advises people who usually travel the route that a detour is in place, and drivers should follow Route 2010 (Frankstown Road) and Route 2006 (Springhill Road).
The 10 ton weight limit usually in place has been temporarily lifted.
