A former detective for the Altoona Police Department is facing charges for allegedly stalking his ex-wife.
 
39 year old Craig Zahradnik, of 504 56th Street, is accused of following his ex-wife and the couple's two children around on Tuesday. The woman told police that she is in constant fear because of Zahradnik’s anger.
 
Court records show that Zahradnik called police Tuesday evening to check on the welfare of his ex-wife and the kids. Police say it was clear when they arrived on scene that the call was unfounded. At that point the woman told police that Zahradnik had just followed her and the children around in his car for about an hour.
 
Zahradnik, now a private investigator, retired as a city cop in 2010 following a run-in with police.  No charges were filed in that incident.
