The Stations of the Radio Campus are preparing to say a final goodbye to one of our own.
Former WRTA owner Rod Wolf will be laid to rest tomorrow. Wolf passed away last Saturday at the age of 82. Wolf first joined WRTA in 1957. He, along with the late Lou Murray, then vice president of the company, began the first local talk radio program in 1960. The show was called “Open Mike”.
The awards Wolf received during his career included two Golden Quill Awards for Distinguished Achievement in Journalism and Editorial Radio Commentary.
In addition to his broadcasting legacy, Wolf was a political analyst for more than 40 years working on local, regional, and national campaigns as well as television and radio election coverage.
Visitation will be tomorrow at The Stevens Mortuary in Altoona from eleven in the morning until one in the afternoon, followed by a memorial service.
The family is requesting that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to the Blair County Humane Society in Rod Wolf’s memory.
