Another local school district will have a new person in its superintendent position when classes begin after summer vacation.
On the heels of Tuesday’s official hiring of Tom Otto as the top man in the Altoona Area School District, last night in a surprise announcement, Hollidaysburg Superintendent Paul Gallagher said he was stepping down at the end of the school year.
Gallagher cites wanted to have more family time as the reason for his resignation.
Hollidaysburg has been hard hit by personnel changes recently. Assistant Superintendent Gary Robinson and High School Principal Linda McCall had already announced their plans to step down at the end of the current school year. In addition, district business manager, Sam Wilson, retired at the end of the last school year and spokesperson Linda Russo and board member Bill Padamonsky resigned their positions earlier in the current school year.
