Jury selection is underway for the Bedford County man accused of gunning down his estranged wife outside a fast food restaurant four years ago.
State Police John Gearholt fatally shot his wife in 2009 while she was on break outside of the Everett McDonald’s. Prosecutors and defense attorneys were unable to seat any jurors on Monday. Gearholt faces the death penalty if convicted.
The case has been delayed several times since the shootings because of the number of mental evaluations that have been ordered in the case. Jury selection will continue later today and testimony is expected to begin after the jury panel has been seated.
