Kane Says Corbett Impeding Review of Voter ID Law

The Democratic candidate for state attorney general says the Corbett administration is "playing politics" to impede a federal inquiry into Pennsylvania's voter ID law.

Kathleen Kane said Wednesday that Republican Governor Tom Corbett and the attorney general's office should turn over all information requested by the U.S. Justice Department.

Last week, Corbett's general counsel refused to provide documents that the federal agency requested and said it was overstepping its authority. Kane's GOP foe, David Freed, says it's Kane who is playing politics. He noted that the administration did offer to share the documents it produced in fending off a lawsuit seeking to block the law, which is now before the state Supreme Court on appeal.

The law requires all voters to show photo ID starting in the November 6th election.
