A local man suspected of being a large scale heroin dealer was arrested over the weekend.
28 year old Brandon Thompkins, of 1116 14th Avenue in Altoona, was picked up Sunday after officers of the Altoona Police Department, the Blair County Drug Task Force and the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General Bureau of Narcotics, served a search warrant at his home.
Officers seized 600 bags of heroin with a street value of $18,000.00, over $400 cash, four handguns and drug distribution materials.
Thompkins is on State Parole for prior drug distribution charges after having served seven years in prison. He had only been out of prison for a couple months.
The new charges include Possession with the Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Former Convict Not to Possess a Firearm and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
The investigation was assisted by calls to the Drug hotline and was funded by Operation Our Town.
