Altoona Police say a Megan’s Law offender who’s been on the run for nearly 10 months is now behind bars in New York.
City police tell WRTA News that a Facebook tipster led them to the apprehension of Gregory Grove. U.S. Marshall’s took Grove into custody Tuesday afternoon after using the new information to track him down.
Local authorities issued an arrest warrant for Grove in December 2012 after he failed to register his local address with the Pennsylvania Megan’s Law web site.
Grove will be extradited to Pennsylvania on the felony warrant after he serves an 18-month federal jail sentence for not registering as a sexual predator in New York. That sentence was handed down by U.S. District Judge David Larimer in September.
