State Police in Hollidaysburg say they believe they have identified one of two men involved in the theft of copper wires from four Brush Mountain radio towers over the weekend.
Troopers released surveillance video of one of the thefts on Monday and the tips and calls came pouring in. The video was recorded Saturday morning from a tower owned by MultiComm, a local wireless communications provider. The suspect’s name has not been released, but investigators say an arrest is pending. Troopers are still working to identify the second man in the video.
Blair County was one of the victims. Commissioner Diane Meling says the alleged thieves cut through a fence surrounding a 911 Emergency Communications tower and stripped copper from it. Meling says the county will be pressing for serious charges.
Meling says at no time was the 911 system ever compromised. She says repair crews have begun fixing the damage. A repair estimate has not been released.
