Penn State Altoona has received $17,500 from the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board as part of its 2012-2013 Alcohol Education Grant Program.
The program is aimed at addressing underage and irresponsible alcohol consumption. Campus representatives say they will use the money to focus on the development of the Penn State Altoona Health Advisory Board. The board will work to prevent alcohol and other drug use, sexual assault, violence, and suicide, and to raise awareness for mental health.
Some of the money will also benefit intervention and risk reduction programs. More than $1-million in financial support is being awarded by the PLCB.
