Police: HASD Board Member Assaulted at Graduation Ceremony
Assault charges are pending against a retired local businessman who is accused of attacking a Hollidaysburg School Board member.
The incident happened Wednesday night after graduation ceremonies at Tiger Stadium in Hollidaysburg. Witnesses say Byron Lasser allegedly bull-rushed school board vice-president Darlee Sill, grabbed him by the lapel of his suit jacket and then shoved him. Lasser accused Sill of making an obscene gesture toward him – an allegation that Sill denies.
Sill tells WRTA News the attack came out of nowhere and that he suffered a knee injury during the scuffle. The extent of his injury won’t be known until x-ray results are in.
Lasser has declined to comment.
Hollidaysburg Assistant Police Chief David Gehret said Thursday that his department is still in the process of interviewing witnesses and formal charges are expected to be filed next week. According to the Pennsylvania Crime’s Code, Lasser could face a felony aggravated assault charge because Sill is an elected public official.
Lasser has served as a substitute teacher in the district.
School administrators aren’t commenting on the incident.
I would've just posted this on Facebook, but Facebook doesn't allow you to post GIFs (like this little animation).
Maybe the $1.1 BILLION price tag isn't so crazy?
