Police Called To Biker Picnic Over The Weekend

A gathering of motorcycle enthusiasts over the weekend in Blair County turned ugly resulting in an arrest of a Tyrone man.

The incident happened around 12:10 AM Sunday at a picnic area off of Campbell Hill Road near Geeseytown in Frankstown Township.  During the event held by Alliance of Bikers Aimed Toward Education or A.B.A.T.E. an argument between a man and a woman over who was more intoxicated became violent. State police say that 37 year old James Bogel kicked and punched Samantha Osterhout of Tyrone and when bystanders tried to break it up Bogel punched and kicked them before they eventually got Bogel down on the ground and held him there until police arrived.

Officers from Hollidaysburg and Blair Township were called in by state police because of the large crowd of people at the Picnic, which at one point started to get unruly while the investigation was taking place.

Bogel was taken into custody for Simple Assault on Osterhout and he faces additional charges for allegedly spitting on a Hollidaysburg Boro Police Officer.  In addition Bogel tried to kick out the windows of the Police cruiser and broke a leather belt used for restraining people under arrest.
