State Farm Fights Sandusky Coverage in Civil Suits
An insurance company for ex-Penn State football coach Jerry Sandusky says his homeowners' policy shouldn't have to cover civil suits stemming from his sex crimes.
State Farm Fire and Casualty Company says the policy doesn't cover injuries caused by intentional acts.
The suit, filed last week, is pending in federal court in Williamsport. A similar suit has been filed by the insurer for Sandusky's children's charity, The Second Mile. Sandusky is in prison after being convicted of molesting 10 boys.
State Farm, based in Bloomington, Illinois, says it began insuring the State College home of Sandusky and his wife in 1985. Lawyer Ralph Bocchino represents Sandusky in a lawsuit filed by one accuser.
Bocchino says he can't comment because it's not clear he's involved in the State Farm dispute.
