This year’s State Patty’s day resulted in fewer arrest, but police in Centre County say there is still a long way to go.
Preliminary numbers show this year’s student-created holiday was less destructive than previous years. State College police made 327 calls for service, which resulted in 138 arrests. Those numbers are down from 412 calls and 225 arrests in 2012.
Several downtown bars were paid $5,000 to halt the sale of Alcohol on Saturday night. Officials say that kept fewer students in the downtown area. Borough police anticipate more arrests as they begin to review video surveillance footage from this year’s activities.
