Union Sets Strike Vote

A union representing thousands of faculty members and coaches at Pennsylvania's 14 state-owned universities has scheduled a strike authorization vote.

Association of Pennsylvania State College and University Faculties President Steve Hicks says the vote is set for November 12th, 13th and 14th and says chapters will determine the exact place and hours of local voting.

The union says a committee will meet in Harrisburg on the 16th to begin counting ballots and will later announce the results of the vote.

The move comes amid stalled contract talks and there has never been a faculty strike.

The union represents more than 6,000 faculty and coaches at the universities, which serve about 120,000 students.
