We need Citizen Legislators not Career Politicians

"Good intentions will always be pleaded for every assumption of authority. It is hardly too strong to say that the Constitution was made to guard the people against the dangers of good intentions. There are men in all ages who mean to govern well, but they mean to govern. They promise to be good masters, but they mean to be masters." -- Daniel Webster

Daniel Webster (January 18, 1782 – October 24, 1852) was a leading American statesman and senator from Massachusetts during the period leading up to the Civil War. He was one of the nation's most prominent conservatives.

We need term limits at both the State and Federal level.

AMEN
I don't believe the founding fathers and framers of the US Constitution, for one moment, ever envisioned that politics would become a career. They expected that anyone wanting to serve in public service, would do their duty and then go back home to their families and jobs. I am wholly in favor of term limits for state and federal representatives. Career politicians are unable and unqualified to fairly and effectively represent the citizens. Many have never held a real job, so how can they understand the issues facing people, act accordingly?

We Need More Than Term Limits
We do need term limits. At the local, state, and federal levels. It appears its all about self service and not the service of the community. Lets start with local term limits and expand this. It is a good idea! After all we dont want someone helping himself or herself to the cookie jar. Politicians shouldn't even be career politicians. Who's idea was that?
