Blair County’s 30th Annual National Night Out against crime is Tuesday August 5th through Duncansville with a parade starting 6pm, ending at the Antique depot parking lot, with various vendors, a car show and fireworks at 9.  All Blair County residents are invited, and asked to leave porch lights  on to highlight awareness of crime and drug prevention.  It’s sponsored by the Duncansville Police, Blair County Law Enforcement Agencies and the Duncansville Area Business and Professional Association
The Altoona Symphony League is sponsoring a bus trip to see “Music of The Night – The Songs of Andrew Lloyd Webber” at the American Music Theatre in Lancaster Thursday August 28th.  Cost is $80 covering ticket and transportation.  The bus leaves Altoona 10am.  Reservations are due by August 8th; call 942-4482

The Annual Jeffy Showalter Memorial Ride will be Saturday August 16th.  Registration is $25 per person from 10 to Noon at the Duncansville VFW.  The ride is about 100 miles and ends at Campbell Hill Rec Room in Hollidaysburg with an after-party with entertainment by Locked & Loaded, Half-Tempted and DJ Toby.  Proceeds benefit the Jeffy Showalter Scholarship Fund.  For information call 934-7149
