The First Presbyterian Church will host the Hollidaysburg Free Soup Program Saturdays through February 7th.  From 11 to 1 there’ll be hot soup, bread, butter, desserts and beverages.  The program is open to all, and a free-will offering will be accepted.  The church is at Walnut and Penn Streets
The Central Pennsylvania Bible Conference will hold a one-day Winter Session 10am to 2:30pm, with lunch 11:30 to 1 Saturday January 31st.  Speaker will be Rev. Central Blair Recreation and Park Commission will have a 4-session Paintball Program, February 3rd, 10th, 17th and 24th from4 to 6pm at Urban War Zone on Route 764 in Duncansville.  Participants must wear protective clothing; a protective face mask, equipment and 100 paintballs are provided for each session.  It’s for ages 10 to 18, and costs $60, plus parents must sign a waiver.  For details and registration log onto www.cbrcparks.org or stop by the office at 2105 5th Avenue in Altoona
 
The United Way of Blair County is accepting applicants for its 2015 Impact Grant Process.  Any 501(c) (3) non-profit human service organization that provides programs to Blair County residents in Income, Education, health or Emergency Needs is eligible to apply.  There’ll be 2 pre-proposal training seminars at the United Way offices January 29th and February 3rd.  Application deadline is March 13th. Simpson-Temple United Parish will have their Annual Winterfest 9am to 2pm Saturday February 7th.  A Breakfast Buffet is available 8 to 10:30; Lunch is 11 to 2.  There’ll be a  mini flea market including books, CDs, DVDs, game and puzzles.  There’ll be a Soup Sale, with quarts of Chicken Noodle, Ham & Bean, Italian Sausage and Vegetable Beef, which must be ordered in advance by calling 942-0840.  Cost is $6. Penn State Altoona will host a Mini THON from 10am to 10pm Saturday February 7th at the Adler Athletic Complex.  Admission is free, but some activities will require tickets. There’ll be fundraisers, a bounce house, photo booth, live music and more to supports The Four Diamonds Fund.  THON 2015 will be February 20th through the 22nd at the Bryce Jordan Center
The Dorothy Day Outreach Center of Loretto will have its Annual Spaghetti Dinner 11 to 3 Sunday February 8th.  Dinner includes meatball, roll and butter, salad and dessert. There’ll also be a Chinese auction.  Tickets are $8 for adults. $5 for children 5 to 12; 4 and under eat for free. Proceeds help families in need of financial assistance, food, clothing and utilities.  It’s at Saint Michael’s School Hall in Loretto
