The We CARE Foundation, through the Central Pennsylvania Community Foundation will have their 2015 Softball marathon August 14th, 15th and 16th at various fields throughout Blair County.  Each team needs to raise a minimum registration fee of $450 for 12 players, or $600 for 20 players.  We CARE provides physical, occupational and speech therapy for children and adults in the Blair County Region.  For information call 201-2399

Blair County law enforcement agencies and area businesses are hosting the 32nd Annual County-wide National Night Out against crime Tuesday August 4th in at the Antique Depot parking lot in Duncansville.  There’s a car, truck and motorcycle show starting 5:15 and a parade from Napa to the Deport parking lot at 6.  There are various displays and family events, and the night ends with fireworks at 9.  All Blair County residents are invited, and also asked to keep porch lights on Tuesday night
General Stillwell’s Burma Campaign is a lecture to be given by Dr. Ron Diamond 7:30 Wednesday evening August 5th at the Pennsylvania Military Museum in Boalsburg.  It’s on business Route 322, 3 miles east of State College.  Admission is free, but donations are requested
The Downtown Altoona Summer Sounds Concert Series presents Flight 19 6 to 9pm Friday August 7th at Heritage Plaza on 11th Avenue.  The concert is free; food and beverage sales benefit local non-profit arts groups.  Bring lawn chairs 
The Greenwood United Methodist Church will have an Indoor Yard and Bake Sale 8am to 1pm Saturday August 8th.  There’ll be no clothing, but a good selection of household items, furniture, collectibles, small appliances and more.  The church is at 1505 East Walton Avenue in Altoona
The Dorothy Day Outreach Center’s 1st Annual Wine-Tasting Benefit will be Saturday August 8th.  There are two sessions; 1 to 4 or 5 to 8pm.  There’ll be wine and beer samples plus vendors selling cheese, candles and more.  $30 tickets include a luncheon, and are available at the door.  It’s at Our Lady of Loretto Hall in Loretto
The 3rd Annual Hollidaysburg Community Partnership Canal Basin Park Festival will be Saturday August 8th.  There’ll be entertainment, games, arts and crafts and children’s activities from 11 to 3.  Reiser House will also be open,  Hollidaysburg Area Public Library has a program, 11 to 12:30; The Heart of Gold Twirl team performs 12:30 to 1 then D.D. and the Pubcrawlers play near the amphitheater 1 to 3
