Former President Bush Golfs at Bedford Springs

A former U.S. President paid a surprise visit to our region on Thursday.

An Omni Bedford Springs spokesperson says former President George W. Bush played a round of golf there yesterday. The 43rd president flew into the Bedford Airport via private jet before being whisked away to the resort in a non-descript SUV.

Bush greeted neighbors and waved to onlookers as he played 18 rounds with three other men. Two secret service agents and several security guards were on hand to make sure the president was safe.

A resort official says everything surrounding Bush’s visit was a secret, even to the resort staff – they say his surprise visit came together at the last minute.
