Tyrone Man Charged with Stealing Woman’s Jewelry
A Tyrone man has been charged with stealing $2,900 in jewelry from a woman in Centre County.
Spring Township Police say 26-year-old John Smith was one of three men who had been repairing the heating system at the victim’s Pleasant Gap home when the alleged theft occurred. According to police, Smith took the jewelry from the woman’s bedroom and pawned it for $210.
He’s accused of stealing a diamond ring, wedding ban and some earrings. Police say Smith’s boss confronted him after the homeowner complained. He admitted to selling the items.
Smith was arraigned in front of a magisterial district judge on felony theft charged and placed in the Centre County Correctional Facility on $50,000 bail.
