Official: 911 Upgrade Will “Vastly Improve Service”

The Blair County 911 Center is finally going to get a much-needed upgrade.

County leaders are set to approve a $383,000 next week to purchase a new CAD dispatch system. There will be no cost to local taxpayers because grant monies and wireless phone fees are being used to cover the upgrade.

911 IT administrator Carla Dosh told the Commissioners on Tuesday the new system will be a vast improvement over the current system, which was installed in 2005.

The New World CAD system is currently used in York, Berks, Armstrong and Jefferson Counties. Dosh says it will take about 3 to 5 months for training and set up before the new system can be rolled out.

I would've just posted this on Facebook, but Facebook doesn't allow you to post GIFs (like this little animation). Maybe the $1.1 BILLION price tag isn't so crazy?
