Penn State Nittany Lion wide receiver Devon Smith has been kicked off the team.
 
Multiple sources have confirmed the move.
 
Smith was listed as a first-team receiver on Penn State's summer depth chart released earlier this month.
 
Smith was charged in April with possessing marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
 
As recently as three weeks ago new head coach Bill O'Brien said Smith was still on the team calling Smith one of his team's true playmakers.
 
Last season Smith had 25 receptions for 402 yards.
