PSU Trustee Apologizes for 'Cover-Up' Comments

A Penn State trustee has apologized for saying that he believes top administrators might have covered up the Jerry Sandusky child sex-abuse scandal.

Keith Masser told The Associated Press in an interview last week that it appears Penn State officials made the decision to withhold a 2001 allegation against Sandusky from civil authorities.

He said an internal investigation had found emails that linked ousted Penn State President Graham Spanier and two other officials to a "suspected cover-up." Masser now says he regrets those comments. In a statement posted on the Board of Trustees' website, he says, "We all need to continue to show restraint to wait for facts before making conclusions."

Sandusky is on trial for allegedly sexually abusing 10 boys over a period of 15 years.
