Longtime Hollidaysburg Area School District athletic director Dean Rossi will retire at the end of the year.
School board members accepted Rossi’s retirement request Wednesday night. He’ served as the district’s athletic director for nearly 25 years. Superintendent Dr. Paul Gallagher says Rossi’s experience and dedication will be missed.
Rossi’s position had come under fire recently by some school board directors and Tea Party members who questioned the salary and the need for a full-time athletic director.
He’ll be replaced by former Allegheny One Elementary School principal Dr. Bob Gildea, who will also oversee the district’s new cyber academy.
