Forum Raises Awareness to Foster Care in the Community

Dozens of people gathered in Downtown Altoona Tuesday night to learn about the challenges facing foster children in local community.

The event was sponsored by Blair County Children, Youth and Family Services, Operation Our Town and Kid’s First. Organizers played the documentary ‘From Place to Place,’ and then followed up with a panel of foster care youth and alumni.

Participants say it takes a community to come together to make a foster child’s transition to adulthood successful. Forum organizers say they wanted to bring the community members, professionals, business leaders and policy members together for a meaningful discussion.

CYS officials say they are making changes to the foster care system to help with the transition process of those going into adulthood.

I would've just posted this on Facebook, but Facebook doesn't allow you to post GIFs (like this little animation). Maybe the $1.1 BILLION price tag isn't so crazy?
