Six Day Event to Mark 10th Anniversary of Quecreek Rescue
A six-day celebration is planned to mark the 10th anniversary of the rescue of nine miners trapped underground in the Quecreek Mine in southwestern Pennsylvania.
The events planned by The Quecreek Mine Rescue Foundation will culminate with a ceremony on July 28th at 11:00AM and will be attended by former Governor Mark Schweiker, who was on-site helping to direct the rescue.
All nine trapped miners were rescued from a flooded shaft 200 feet below ground following a 77-hour ordeal that ended July 28, 2002. Some of the rescued miners and the crews who helped save them will appear on July 26th for photographs and to sign autographs.
The Tribune-Democrat of Johnstown reports that other events also include a benefit dinner and a community days celebration.
I would've just posted this on Facebook, but Facebook doesn't allow you to post GIFs (like this little animation).
Maybe the $1.1 BILLION price tag isn't so crazy?
