A former Logan Township Police officer has lost his three-year battle with cancer.
William Burrows died Monday afternoon from complications of multiple myeloma. He was diagnosed in 2010 after breaking his collar bone. Since that time his fellow Blair County police officers have rallied to support him as he endured extensive chemotherapy and blood transfusions.
Logan Township Police Chief Ron Heller says Burrows was an outstanding officer who would do anything to help anyone.
Heller had a chance to visit Burrows over the weekend as his friend’s condition deteriorated. He recounts his last conversation with the man he shared a common bond with as both men are former Marines.
Burrows served on the Logan Township Police for 22 years -- He was also a member of the Greenwood Volunteer Fire Department.
