Blair County officials have sold the plot of land that used to house the former Eagle’s Building in Downtown Altoona.
The commissioners previously said there were several parties interested in the property. But in the end it went to the lone bidder – for a mere $10,001. Commissioner Terry Tomassetti says he’s glad it’s out of the county’s hands now. – especially since the city forced the county to tear the building down at a cost of $300,000.
The building became the county’s responsibility because it went into their tax repository. The property will become a parking lot as part of a larger development project that’s in the works.
I would've just posted this on Facebook, but Facebook doesn't allow you to post GIFs (like this little animation).
Maybe the $1.1 BILLION price tag isn't so crazy?
