Conklin to Introduce Bill to Change Operation of PSU

State Representative Scott Conklin says he will introduce a bill in Harrisburg that will fundamentally change the way Penn State University operates.

The Centre County Democrat says his bill will remove the university’s president as an ex-officio voting board member and prohibit them from serving on board committees. Conklin says the governor will also become a nonvoting board member. And he says he’ll propose expanding Pennsylvania’s Right to Know Law so that it fully covers Penn State and all other schools that receive state monies.

Penn State received $279-million from state taxpayers this year. Conklin says his bill will include many of the suggestions made by State Auditor General Jack Wagner last week, when Wagner called for the implementation of the new reform measures. Conklin says he’ll introduce the legislation after the summer recess.
