Penn State Adds Names, Ribbon to Football Jerseys

Penn State is adding the names of players as well as a symbol of child-abuse awareness to the football team's jerseys for the upcoming season.

The university announced the changes Tuesday, saying they will take effect with the September 1st season opener against Ohio University.

The team's generic look has long been its trademark, but officials say they're adding the names to recognize the players' "resolve and dedication." The uniforms will also sport a blue ribbon to support all victims of child abuse.

The team is about to start its first full season in decades without Joe Paterno as head coach. He died in January, two months after being fired by the trustees in the wake of Jerry Sandusky's arrest on child molestation charges.
