A Cambria County prison inmate has been formally charged with killing his cellmate.
District Attorney Kelli Callihan says William Cramer was arraigned Wednesday on criminal homicide charges. Cramer allegedly strangled 27-year-old William Sherry following an argument on Saturday. A prison guard found Sherry dead in his cell around 10:00 that night.
Online court records show that Cramer was awaiting trial on charges that he assaulted corrections officers on two occasions at the State Correctional Institution in Cresson. Sherry was jailed on a bench warrant last Thursday – just two days before he was killed.
