If you thought you heard the sounds of a steam locomotive chugging through Altoona Monday afternoon, you need not be worried about your state of mind.
What you heard was the real deal.
For the first time since the late 70’s locals got a chance to see and hear a steam locomotive up close as The Fort Wayne Railroad Historical Society's No. 765 rolled through town.
The event helped mark Norfolk Southern's 30th anniversary.
The No. 765 was making it’s way from Pittsburgh to Enola - where it will be hooked up to an excursion train for a series of employee appreciation trips for Norfolk Southern.
If you missed the No. 765, you’ll get another chance to see it as it makes a return trip though Altoona next Monday.
