Dog Rights Activist From Altoona In Trouble In Virginia
A former animal right’s activist that made headlines in Blair County a few years ago is now in the news in Virginia.
Tammy Thayne, formerly Tammy Grimes, is the owner of the Dogs Deserve Better Kennel, located on the property once owned by NFL Eagles Quarterback Michael Vick. On Monday Surry County Virginia officials served Thayne with charges of animal cruelty and inadequate care of an animal.
In 2007, Thayne was found guilty of theft and receiving stolen property when she stole a old dog from a yard in East Freedom and refused to return him after a neighbor lodged a complaint with Dogs Deserve Better. Thayne, in that incident, was sentenced to probation and 300 hours of community service.
Thayne also made a name for herself by chaining herself to a dog house on the steps of the capitol in Harrisburg protesting chaining and penning dogs,
A hearing is set for Sept. 25 in Surry County General District Court on the inadequate care charge. No hearing date is set on the cruelty count. Both charges are misdemeanors.
I would've just posted this on Facebook, but Facebook doesn't allow you to post GIFs (like this little animation).
Maybe the $1.1 BILLION price tag isn't so crazy?
