Prosecutors Seek Megan's Law Hearing On Sandusky

Pennsylvania prosecutors are asking a judge for a hearing to determine if convicted child molester Jerry Sandusky should be designated as a sexually violent predator under the state's version of Megan's Law.

The attorney general's office on Wednesday filed a document announcing that it wants the classification for Sandusky and asking for the hearing before Judge John Cleland.

Chief Deputy Attorney General Frank Fina says prosecutors will rely on the testimony of an official with the state Sexual Offenders Assessment Board.

Sandusky defense lawyer Joe Amendola says that once Cleland schedules a hearing, he'll meet with Sandusky to determine if they should fight it.

Sexually violent predators are subject to intense reporting requirements upon release. Sandusky awaits sentencing after being convicted in June of 45 counts of child sexual abuse.
