The television attacks in Pennsylvania's race for U.S. Senate are becoming more strident as the election clock winds down to Nov. 6.
Republican challenger Tom Smith launched a new attack this week as he tries to close a persistent polling gap with Democratic Sen. Bob Casey. Casey is seeking a second six-year term. Also on the ballot is Libertarian Party candidate Rayburn Smith.
Tom Smith's attack ad follows an attack ad that Casey's campaign released last week. Casey accuses Smith of wanting to privatize Social Security, cuts taxes for the wealthy and backing a Medicare overhaul that could make the plan more expensive for enrollees.
Meanwhile, Smith criticizes Casey for supporting a cut to Medicare reimbursements.
