Prosecutors Rest In Traveling Preacher Rape Trial In Bedford
The prosecution has rested in the trial of a traveling preacher accused of having raped an 11-year-old girl at a Bedford County motel several years ago.
Authorities allege that Walter Bradshaw of Lexington, North Carolina assaulted the girl in 2009 while he was in the area for revival meetings.
The 15-year-old girl testified Wednesday that the 63-year-old Bradshaw assaulted her and continued contacting her after he was told to stop.
Bradshaw's attorney challenged her testimony and unsuccessfully sought a mistrial.
The girl's mother pleaded no contest in April to endangerment and soliciting perjury. Investigators said she knew Bradshaw intended to have sex with her daughter and then encouraged her to lie to police.
