Local Part Time Pharmacy Employee Accused of Stealing Hundreds Lottery Tickets



An Altoona woman has been arrested on felony theft charges.
 
Police say 45 year old Verna Barr, of 515 South Kettle Street stole Pennsylvania lottery tickets from her employer Thompson Pharmacy.
 
The thefts allegedly occurred between May of last year and June of this year and resulted in winnings of over $100,000.
 
According to police Barr stole over 500 tickets during one shift alone. In all, the thefts cost the Pharmacy $239,000 in losses.
 
Barr was arraigned Wednesday and waived her preliminary hearing.
