Altoona Area Junior High School students will kick off the 2012-2013 ROAR Program during grade level assemblies today.
During these high energy assemblies, students will be reminded of positive behaviors and goals for the new school year will be introduced.
RoAR (Respect, Ownership, Actions, and Relationships) is a school-wide Positive Behavior Support and Intervention Program. The goal of the program is to promote positive behavior through direct instruction, reinforcement, rewarding, and recognition when students exhibit appropriate behaviors in targeted areas such as the classroom, hallway, stairwell, bathroom/locker room and
cafeteria.
Effects of the program include a decrease in suspensions and student discipline as well as an increase in school spirit and student attendance and participation in activities and school sponsored events.
